Gorgonà
In a dystopian future, a Greek city-state is ruled by armed men on steroids. The oil refinery is their only source of income, and oil is the currency they use to pay for food and women. In this patriarchal space, they are assigned one role - to be comfort. But Maria does not agree to this. When a terminally ill leader announces a contest to succeed him, she challenges the men and enters the fray. And the appearance of the spectacular singer Elena not only destroys the fragile balance, but also awakens something mystical and still hidden in Maria. Read More A stylish queer western inspired by Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, Claire Danes' Beautiful Work and George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. This is the feature debut of Greek screenwriter and director Evi Kaloghiropoulos, who explores cross-cultural identity, female images through the lens of ancient Greek mythology, and post-apocalyptic worlds in her work. The international premiere of "Gorgons" took place at the Critics' Week of the Venice Film Festival.
