Her father leaves 11-year-old Karin with her monk grandfather in a Japanese village while he goes on business. Grandfather asks his cheerful and stubborn, but capricious ghost cat to look after his granddaughter. The old man sheltered this cat in the monastery as a kitten. After many years, Anzu turned into a bakeneko (ghost cat) and now, at the age of 37, he speaks human language fluently, rides a moped and even works part-time in a spa. Of course, with such a cat, unforgettable adventures await Karin, meetings with other whimsical spirits, a trip to Tokyo, where a merry company will try to get to the other world to find the girl's mother...
