Young Plato
Young Plato
The contemplative documentary takes place in the wake of civil conflict in Ardoyne, an area of Belfast where the working class has suffered for generations due to poverty, drug and gun violence. The film depicts the dream of school principal Kevin McAreaway and his dedicated team working hard for the future, showing how critical thinking and a caring pastor can encourage children and give them the courage to look beyond the boundaries and limitations of their community. We see how philosophy prompts them to question the myths of war and violence—sometimes contrary to the narratives imposed by parents, peers, and a certain socioeconomic group.
