Truth to Power
Truth to Power
The documentary "System of a Down: The Force of Truth" begins as the story of the band System of a Down. The frenetic energy of the music of four boys of Armenian descent from California was tearing up the charts in the early 2000s and even caused mass riots in Los Angeles when local authorities canceled their promotional concert. However, the real hero of the film is frontman Serge Tankian. Thanks to him, System of a Down became the first to talk about the genocide of the Armenian people from the top of Billboard. His criticism of the American government led to the banning of the band's music videos on a number of TV channels. He assembled System of a Down for a concert in Yerevan in 2015, where he spoke his mind about the authorities in Armenia. At that time, Tankian did not yet know that he would become one of the leaders of the Velvet Revolution.
