Caught in a traveling carnival, the charismatic but talentless Stanton Carlyle befriends the seer Zina and her husband Pete, a psychic from the past. This acquaintance became a "golden ticket" in life for Stanton. Having gained experience, he begins to earn by defrauding wealthy residents of New York in the 1940s. One day with the skillful and faithful Molly, Stanton plans to deceive a dangerous tycoon. A mysterious psychologist also helps him in this. But who knows, maybe she is not his friend, but his worst enemy.
