Rifkin's Festival
Rifkin's Festival
Film buff Mort Rifkin accompanies his publicist wife, Sue, to the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain, worried that her crush on a young director client, Philip, may be more than professional. In addition, Mort hopes that the change of setting will give him a break in his struggle to create a first novel that would meet his incredibly strict standards. Rifkin is skeptical of the generous portion of praise received by Philip's film, which he himself considered trite, because our hero is fascinated by the film classics that he once taught as a professor. Mort's mood is lifted when he meets Dr. Joe Rojas, a kindred spirit whose marriage to boisterous artist Paco is also hurting her. While wife Sue spends her days with Philip, Mort's relationship with Joe deepens and he rekindles his love of classic movies.
