The events of the series unfold around two androids - Father and Mother, who, after the destruction of the Earth by the Great War, were entrusted with the upbringing of human children on a mysterious new planet. As a growing human colony threatens to perish due to religious strife, the androids learn that controlling human beliefs is a treacherous and difficult task.
