The Plot Against America

The famous pilot and isolationist Charles Lindbergh won the election in 1940 and became the new president of the United States. Anti-Semitism flourished in the country after Lindbergh came to power. The president publicly accuses the Jews of trying to drag the country into a war with Nazi Germany and negotiates with Adolf Hitler about non-intervention. As Lindbergh's loud speeches blare from the radios, young Philip Roth and his family and friends watch in horror as the new president's ideology prepares to destroy their lives.
