The Last Duel
The Last Duel
The film, based on true events, sheds light on long-standing speculation about France's last sanctioned duel: between Jean de Carrouge and Jacques Le Gris, former friends turned enemies. Karrouge is a respected knight, known for his courage and skill on the battlefield. Le Greis is a Norman squire whose intelligence and eloquence made him one of the most respected members of the court. But one day Marguerite, the wife of Jean de Carrouge, accuses Le Grie of rape. The latter denies the accusations, but the woman refuses to remain silent and speaks out against her abuser. This act of courage and defiance puts her life in danger. The trial by duel, the duel to the death, places the fate of all three in the hands of God.
