In Askania-Nova, various types of animals and people with completely different characters get along. The director of the reserve, Viktor Semenovych, communicates with buffaloes, zebras and pelicans as if with people. For the former employee of Mr. Mykola, this place became a refuge from the cynicism of the outside world. Pasha, a young scientist, spends his days counting birds and making friends with local rappers, until he faces a difficult life choice. For a whole century, Askania-Nova has been protecting nature from human-caused changes. But will she accept the changes necessary for her own survival?
