Vasyl Semenovych Stus. Every Ukrainian knows the name of this poet, because his poems are studied at school, and his story is incredibly tragic. Vasyl was one of those people who could never remain silent in the face of injustice. He spoke too often about what millions of others were silent about. He was not just a man - a poet in his sixties, a human rights defender, a Hero of Ukraine, a fighter for our culture. The audience will see the last days of Stus's life, as well as his death in a Soviet camp on the night of September 4, 1985. The authorities tried to the last to persuade Vasyl Semenovych to go over to their side in all sorts of different ways, but the poet did not agree to sell his soul to the devil for anything. For this he was punished. Read more The film was shot by director Roman Brovko, whose credits include only little-known projects.
