If Beale Street Could Talk

19-year-old Tish is engaged to 22-year-old sculptor Fonny. They are preparing for the wedding, Tish is expecting a baby, when Fonnie is accused of raping a Puerto Rican woman, Victoria. A young man goes to serve a sentence for a crime he did not commit - he was framed by a racist policeman. Meanwhile, Victoria leaves the US, returns home, and Tish's mother, Sharon, follows the woman to find evidence of Fonnie's innocence.
