Camilla Pricker, a not particularly happy reporter for one of the not particularly successful Chicago newspapers, dreams of a brilliant career. And now the girl gets a lucky chance that can dramatically increase her journalistic status - Camilla is sent as a correspondent to a small town where several young girls have become victims of a maniac. Her task is to give readers a sensational message from the scene of the events. The fact is that Camilla was born and raised in this city, and who, if not her, is easier than others to get along with the residents and find out the nuances of the investigation. But immersion in the terrible reality of provincial life turns into a chain of nightmares for her.
