Julian is a young director from Berlin. Desperate to raise money for a new film, he agrees to become a seasonal worker on an apple plantation. To impress Camilla, a Canadian exchange student, Julian claims that his work on the plantations is just research for an upcoming film. But after the idealist Camille imposes herself on him as a partner, Julian realizes that he can no longer lie to her, because the plantation is far from the socialist paradise he dreamed of. Who knows what vicissitudes Julian would have experienced if Francis of Assisi himself had not come to his aid...
