Raquel, a lonely, withdrawn woman, has been working for the wealthy Valdes family for 23 years. One day Pilar, Raquel's mistress, hires another maid. Raquel is afraid of losing her job and starts a cruel psychological game of survival with her competitor. This continues until Lucy, a cheerful girl from the province, appears in the house, who manages to find an approach to Raquel and change her outlook on life.
