Anetta's mother inherited a difficult fate: like her Sardinian ancestors, she is an acabadora, a merciful killer. Despite her young age, she, according to ancient custom, helps the elderly to die. But the Second World War changes Italian society, helping Anetta to escape from her gloomy life and learn love.
