In 1913, the German collector Wilhelm Ude, the first buyer of Picasso and the discoverer of Rousseau's "The Publican", decided to settle in Senlis to take a break from Parisian life and engage in creativity. He hires forty-eight-year-old Serafina as a maid. Some time later, in one of the houses of the local nobility, he notices a small painting.
