Nabucco
Nabucco
A large-scale, multifaceted musical canvas about the Assyrian king Nebuchadnezzar II (Nabucco - a shortened version of his hard-to-pronounce name) staged by one of the most prestigious and famous theaters in the world - the Metropolitan Opera! This is Giuseppe Verdi's third opera, but the composer considered it his first "real" achievement and the beginning of his artistic career. From the day of its premiere in 1842, "Nabucco" did not complain about the lack of popularity: it is a one hundred percent operatic hit. Here is the veteran performance, created under the musical direction of James Levine, which has not left the Met's repertoire for more than 15 years.
