A mysterious fire deprives the three children of the Baudelaire family, Violet, Klaus and Sonechko, their loving parents and their home. The insidious Count Olaf, who dreams of taking the children's inheritance, is appointed guardian of the unfortunate orphans. However, after learning that guardianship does not give him the right to receive the huge fortune of the Baudelaire family, the cunning villain begins to abuse the children in every way.
