Freaks and Geeks

The series takes place in 1980 and revolves around Lindsay Vier and her younger brother Sam, high school students in a fictional town near Detroit. Lindsey, a diligent student and participant in math olympiads, begins to spend time in the company of "freaks", due to a crush on the charming but selfish Daniel Desario, the informal leader of the company. In parallel with Lindsay's attempts to understand herself and solve problems in relations with parents and friends, the storylines of the series demonstrate the difficult attempts of Sam and his company of "geeks" to change their place in the school hierarchy.
