A citizen of Russia, born in the USSR, Ukrainian Manskyi travels through Ukraine to explore Ukrainian society after the Maidan revolution using the example of his own family living in different parts of the country: in Lviv, Odesa, Donbas, and Crimea. The tape looks for the causes of the conflict, after which the citizens of one country found themselves on different sides of the barricades, including the director's family. The main narrative takes place now, but another line of it illuminates the deep roots of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
