Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman), a veteran criminal investigator, dreams of retiring and moving away from the city and its sinful inhabitants. 7 days before retirement, two troubles fall on Somerset: a young partner Mills (Brad Pitt) and a particularly sophisticated murder.
