On March 30 - April 1, the days of Ukrainian cinema Ukraine on Film: Way to Freedom will be held in Amsterdam for the first time. The film review will be held on the eve of the referendum on the association of Ukraine with the European Union, which will be held in the Dutch capital on April 6. The festival program is a panorama of Ukrainian history of the 20th-21st centuries in three documentaries - from the classic of silent cinema, the film "The Eleventh" by Dziga Vertov, which reflected the achievements of socialism, to the films "Russian Woodpecker" and "Winter in the Fire" - films that became hits at international film festivals, offering an insight into the future and present of Ukraine. Program: 1. "Winter on fire", Great Britain, USA, Ukraine, 2015, 102 min. Director: Yevhen Afineevskii The film is a chronicle of events unfolding in Ukraine during the winter of 2013-2014. 2. "The Eleventh", CCCR, 1928, 52 min. Director: Dzyga Vertov "The Eleventh" is a documentary edited from footage from Soviet newsreels of the 1920s, which tells about the construction of socialism in the Ukrainian USSR. 3. "Russian Woodpecker", Great Britain, USA, Ukraine, 2014, 72 min. Director: Chad Gras Fedor Oleksandrovych was 4 years old when radioactive dust from Chernobyl got into his body.
