The Terror
The Terror
In 1845, an expedition under the command of the experienced polar explorer Sir John Franklin was sent on the ships "Terror" and "Erebus" to the northern coast of Canada in search of the Northwest Passage from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific - and disappeared without a trace. The search for her dragged on for several decades, information about her fate was collected literally in bits and pieces, and until now the picture of what happened is full of white spots ... Dan Simmons, the famous author of "Hyperion" and "Endymion", "Ilion" and "Olympus", "Songs of Kali" and "The Dark Game of Death", offers his version of events: the main threat to the expedition was not the devastating embrace of ice, that it is not cold weather with a blizzard and not spoiled canned goods - but an unknown giant monster, as if woven from snow and polar darkness.
