The retrospective is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of the master of silent cinema. The program includes 5 full-length films about the adventures of Chaplin's famous character - Charlie the Tramp, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2014. In addition, the retrospective included six short works created by the master of cinematography at the very beginning of his career. Retrospective program: 1. "The Great Dictator" USA, 1940, 120 min. Charlie Chaplin's dramatic comedy plays two characters at once: a fascist dictator who is no coincidence reminiscent of Hitler, and a poor Jewish hairdresser who returned home after a long stay in a military hospital. 2. "Gold Rush" USA, 1925, 81 min. Tramp Charlie goes to the gold mines of Alaska. 3. "New Times" USA, 1936, 87 min. dramatic comedy An exemplary worker goes crazy from the frantic pace of production at the factory. 4. "Lights of the Big City" USA, 1931, 87 min. melodrama Tramp Charlie falls in love with a blind flower girl who mistakes him for a millionaire. 5. "Circus" USA, 1928, 71 min. Tragi-comedy Tramp Charlie, fleeing from the police, ends up right in the circus arena. 6. "Short works of Chaplin" Six short works created by the master of cinema at the very beginning of his career.
