Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Once upon a time, there lived a young and naive barber Benjamin Barker in London. He was married to a charming woman named Lucy, who bore him an equally charming daughter. Unfortunately for him, the beauty of his wife was also appreciated by Judge Turpin - and he sent Benjamin Barker to life imprisonment in order to possess his wife without hindrance. Fifteen years later, Barker escapes from penal servitude, reaches London under the name Sweeney Todd - and finds neither a wife nor a daughter at home. Mrs. Lovett, the landlady of the little bakery downstairs, who at first did not recognize him, told him his own story. Todd was destroyed and swore terrible revenge on his abusers - Judge Turpin and Bamford, who helped the judge in his dirty deeds. On the advice of Mrs. Lovett, he returned to his former trade - once again became a barber in the hope of one day taking in the judge and killing him.
