Betty - a waitress from the American countryside witnesses the murder of her husband, and in a state of "post-traumatic shock" leaves her hometown for Los Angeles, because truth and fiction, cinema and life are mixed in her mind. But reality in the person of her husband's killers follows her inexorably, because Betty has no idea that there is a large batch of drugs in the trunk of her car.
