Pride & Prejudice
Pride & Prejudice
In the large, but not very rich Bennet family, 5 daughters are growing up, and Mrs. Bennet (Brenda Blethyn) dreams of only one thing - to marry each of them, preferably successfully, to a nobleman with a good inheritance. Mr. Bennet (Donald Sutherland) tries not to interfere in his wife's affairs, but he himself often thinks about the well-being of his daughters. But the wife does not think, but acts. As soon as any suitable suitor appears in the district, Mrs. Bennet immediately tries to set him up with one of her daughters. Pride and Prejudice, directed by Joe Wright, is the sixth adaptation of Jane Austen's novel of the same name. One of the screenwriters of the film was the actress Emma Thompson ("Feelings and Sensibility"), who refused a fee for work on dialogues in favor of the Jane Austen Foundation.
