Die Hard

His story bears little resemblance to a Christmas tale, despite the fact that the action takes place just before Christmas. New York police officer John McClane comes to Los Angeles to spend the holidays with his wife Holly, who now lives with two children separately from her husband, preferring a business career. John comes to Holly at a large company, where a celebration is taking place on the occasion of concluding a super-profitable deal. And that's where a gang of brutal terrorists bursts in, equipped with the latest technology and pursuing, as it turns out, not political goals at all, but simply wanting to rob the company's safes, where codes encrypted in the computer are installed. And then McClane alone begins an implacable fight against criminals, who do not realize until almost the end that they are dealing with a steadfast police officer, a professional of the highest class.
